Community Cats Program Workshop Schedule
Upcoming Care Giver Workshop dates can be found in our “News” section of the website under the “events calendar”. Upcoming events are also available on the home page of our website. We are now holding our workshops quarterly. Our next workshop will be on Saturday, June 30th from 3-5pm.
Please understand that we have limited staff and resources. We work hard to help as many cats and their caretakers as possible. Our small clinic has spayed/neutered over 6000 cats since we opened, but the need is always greater than any one organization can handle. For the safety of the cats and our staff and volunteers, we have to place a limit on the number of cats we can do at each TNR surgery day. If you need or want faster help, there are other area organizations that may be able to help. Please give us a call and we can discuss other options if we are not able to help as quickly as you need. Our Community Cats number is (352) 840-0663, option #2
As a reminder, all caregivers must attend a workshop prior to the first renewal for their colony. If you are having problems attending due to scheduling conflicts, please contact the Community Cats hotline at 352-840-0663, option #2. The workshop provides valuable information about the program, safety in dealing with feral & stray cats, and trapping information, as well as public relations and dealing with problem situations.
Renewal notices will be mailed or emailed to the primary caregiver address listed on the original application. “Low-Cost” surgical services will only be provided to registered colonies/caregivers. Current fees for actively registered colony caregivers are $10.00/cat. Due to the high demand, surgeries are only being scheduled for cats in colonies where the caregiver has attended a workshop and have a current registration status.
RENEWAL FORMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE to ShelteringHands.org members under the Member Only Information tab within their Account details.
Initial Caregiver Registration forms as well as Caregiver Renewal Forms can also be found under the Resources tab- Common Forms.
Feel free to post to the forum page for questions and ideas about trapping or other caregiver concerns. Networking with fellow caregivers is a good way to find resources and understanding “friends”.
If the cats are being fed on property not owned by the caregiver, we will still need a notarized property owner approval for the colony to be eligible for registration.
Surgical services are being scheduled so get your colony registered and attend a workshop to qualify for the low-cost spay/neuter services.
Trap Neuter Return efforts continue on Cedar Key in Levy County Florida through a cooperative effort of Sheltering Hands, River City Community Animal Hospital and the owners of the Faraway Inn – Oliver & Doreen Bauer. If you would like to donate to the program please direct your payment to Sheltering Hands – TNR Program- PO Box 843 Williston, FL 32696
Registration forms for the Community Cats Program are located under the Resources tab- Common Forms. Registration will still require attendance at one of our monthly workshops but the registration form may be submitted prior to attending a workshop.
